Participation is restricted to 1) graduate students ideally in the dissertation stage, 2) independent scholars who have yet to publish a book, and 3) junior academics within five years of receiving their PhD who have not published their first monograph.
We reserve one spot for a more senior scholar who can compliment the mentoring of the directors while also working on their writing project.
To be considered, candidates must submit an application. They should upload a CV as well as a ~500 word cover letter that addresses the following:
The applicant’s background and a brief description of the proposed dissertation/book project, including sources and methodology.
An explanation for why the applicant would be a good fit for this program, and what they hope to get from it.
Preferences and needs for accommodations. (Is the applicant comfortable with a shared room, or require a private bedroom? Does the applicant need additional transportation help? NOTE: Bedrooms are upstairs.)
Applicants must also have one letter of reference sent from an academic advisor or mentor to eugene.england.institute@gmail.com.
Applications, including reference letters, will be accepted beginning January 1, 2025. All materials are due by February 15, 2025. Notice of acceptance or rejection will be made by early March.
